CARGOWARD® completed underwater hull cleaning and propeller polishing for M/V DARYA PREETI at Santos Anchorage, Brazil, with before/after evidence and Master’s acknowledgement.

CARGOWARD® attended M/V DARYA PREETI, a Marshall Islands flagged bulk carrier, at Santos Anchorage, Brazil, for a documented underwater inspection followed by underwater hull cleaning and propeller polishing.

The attendance was structured in two stages. First, an underwater inspection was carried out on 18 March 2026, identifying marine fouling across the underwater hull and appendages, including the vertical sides, bilge keels, flat bottom, sea chest grids, rudder blade and propeller. The follow-up cleaning operation was completed on 20 March 2026, with photographic and video evidence organized by treated area.

The operation was delivered under CARGOWARD®’s HSQE-led coordination model, with the final close-out package including inspection records, cleaning completion report, service certificate and Master’s acknowledgement.

The initial underwater inspection recorded marine fouling accumulation across several submerged areas of the vessel. The flat bottom presented the highest reported coverage, with acorn barnacles and slime observed over approximately 70–80% of the inspected area. Sea chest grids were also recorded with approximately 60–70% coverage, while the vertical sides, rudder blade and propeller showed marine growth in the range of approximately 50–60%.

The job also had to be delivered within an active port-call environment at Santos Anchorage, where the reported conditions included strong sea state, strong current and approximately four meters of underwater visibility. These factors required careful coordination of dive execution, evidence capture and vessel interface.

The operational priority was to complete the agreed underwater treatment areas within the available window while maintaining clear records of what was inspected, cleaned, polished and documented.

CARGOWARD® coordinated a two-stage underwater service package for the vessel.

The first stage consisted of an underwater inspection with CCTV/photo evidence, recording fouling conditions by zone and supporting the decision to proceed with hull cleaning. The second stage consisted of underwater hull cleaning, sea chest grid cleaning, rudder blade cleaning and propeller cleaning/polishing.

To accelerate execution and support the vessel’s turnaround requirement, the cleaning operation was carried out using two underwater teams and two support boats, with one team positioned on the port side and the other on the starboard side. This allowed simultaneous work fronts while keeping the operation organized by area and supported by visual records.

The treated areas included:

  • Vertical sides

  • Bilge keels

  • Flat bottom

  • Sea chest grids

  • Rudder blade

  • Propeller cleaning and polishing

The close-out documentation was prepared as an auditable service record, including before/after evidence, area-by-area completion status, a certificate of completion and Master’s acknowledgement.

The reported underwater cleaning scope was completed on 20 March 2026 at Santos Anchorage. The final completion report recorded the vertical sides, bilge keels, flat bottom, sea chest grids and rudder blade as 100% cleaned, and the propeller as 100% cleaned and polished.

A formal certificate was issued for the underwater hull cleaning and propeller polishing attendance. The certificate records the vessel particulars, inspection and cleaning dates, service scope and operational completion statement. It also clarifies that the document is an enterprise record of service completion and does not constitute a class certificate, statutory survey certificate or independent regulatory approval.

A companion Service Performance Record and Master’s Acknowledgement was also issued, confirming that underwater inspection, hull cleaning, propeller cleaning, propeller polishing, rudder blade cleaning, sea chest cleaning, vertical sides cleaning, flat bottom cleaning and underwater evidence review were recorded as performed.

This operation demonstrates CARGOWARD®’s ability to deliver evidence-led underwater cleaning support for bulk carriers in Brazil, with practical coordination, area-based reporting and responsible close-out documentation.
